Here at our home turf in San Francisco, we're all rested from the holidays and jumping into a new year. We're starting off with our January meetup on Wednesday the 14th looking at a production deployment and a bit of the future.
Johann Lynch the Platform Architect at YOU Technology will be visiting to talk about their deployment with our Couchbase S.F. Meetup group. You probably know YOU already, but in case you're unfamiliar with YOU, let me fill you in.
Getting the right recommendation in front of the right person at the right time is an ever improving science. YOU Technology is one platform applying this to coupons for the consumer. Like many, they built their system starting with traditional databases. Getting to the next level, YOU Technology needed much faster, higher throughput access to their data. They also needed to be able to scale the system easily and handle data locality needs. With its simple scalability and built-in cross datacenter replication (XDCR), Couchbase Server is what YOU Technology selected.
YOU Technology is now ready to handle about 5 million transactions a day. They will share with the group how they're using nearly every part of Couchbase Server, from views for querying the large datasets and even to analytics across the data.
After that, we'll look to the future that is with us already. With the latest release of iOS and Mac OS X, Apple has released the Swift Programing Language. Couchbase Lite for iOS is ready for Swift, of course. James Nocentini of Couchbase will give us an introduction to Swift prototyping your iOS apps with user authentication, UI prototyping, model objects, seeding the local db & sync gateway in development and more.
Please RSVP on the meetup page and we hope to see everyone there.
I’ve been developing software for as long as I can remember, at least 11 years now. I never was really the Mac guy, but I liked Linux and was always looking at new technologies.
