This week we get to know Joel Ruisi, our Community Champion in Florida.

Tell us about yourself and what you do in your daily role?
Joel: My typical day involves looking at a client’s data needs, and trying to find ways to take advantage of the data that they have. Using tools like Couchbase, I can quickly show them the value within their data.

Where are you based and what do you like to do in your spare time?
Joel: I'm based in Orlando, Florida. In my spare time I enjoy going to the beach and fishing. I have two sons (a 2- and 5-year-old) and a wife who pretty much take up any spare time that I have though.

What made you choose Couchbase?
Joel: The first thing I noticed about Couchbase was how easy it was to set up and begin using. I've also done some benchmarks comparing Couchbase with other NoSQL competitors, and the results always have Couchbase coming out on top.

What have you accomplished using Couchbase?
Joel: I have used Couchbase to cache slower data stores, for integrating multiple systems together, creating search applications, storing sensor data, etc.

What one feature of Couchbase do you use and what should people know about it?
Joel: Not necessarily a feature, but I think some developers don't realize the broad set of use cases that Couchbase can handle.

If you could have three wishes for Couchbase what would they be?
Joel: The only thing that would be nice to have when using Couchbase is the ability to do integrated full text search, but you all have taken care of that in an upcoming release, so I am happy.

What is your favorite book or author, and why?
Joel: Don't really have a favorite author, but I enjoy reading anything science fiction.
