BUILD AI APPS THAT WORK ANYWHERE
Couchbase Mobile
Build always-on mobile and edge apps with embedded AI. Couchbase Mobile syncs data cloud-to-device and runs vector search offline – one platform that works when the network doesn’t.

Purpose-built for edge AI
On-device vector search and RAG. AI features that work without the internet.

On-device retrieval
Vector search runs in Couchbase Lite against local data. Semantic queries return in milliseconds, no cloud round trip.

Works in dead zones
Your users get answers even if the signal drops. RAG and semantic search run on the device against local data.

Private by default
Sensitive context never leaves the device. Keep regulated data out of public models without extra plumbing.

Lightweight local models
Embed on the device with frameworks like Apple Vision, then match in Couchbase Lite. Full AI pipeline, no cloud dependency.
What is Couchbase Mobile?
One platform that embeds a database on device, syncs across cloud and edge, and runs AI locally. Built for apps that must never fail.
Couchbase Capella or self-managed Couchbase Server powers the cloud tier. It scales to global workloads, stores every document your devices sync, and runs the same query language used on the device.
Couchbase Lite runs on device with SQL++, full-text search, and vector search on every platform.
Bidirectional sync with automatic conflict resolution via Capella App Services or Sync Gateway.
Vector search and RAG run on the device against local data. AI features work without the internet.
Devices sync directly over Wi-Fi with automatic peer discovery. No internet required.

ARCHITECTURE
Cloud to edge sync
Data replication

Push, pull, or bidirectional sync between Couchbase Lite and the cloud over a Websockets protocol built for low latency. Delta sync moves only what changed. Granular filters replicate only the data each device needs. Continuous or on-demand, with native JSON support and secure defaults.

AI AT THE EDGE
Ship AI features that work offline
On-device vector search runs against local data, so semantic search and RAG survive dead zones and sensitive context never leaves the device. Bring your own model, local or remote. Couchbase supplies the embedded data layer, the retrieval, and the security. Build AI features that work in a retail store, on a ship, in a plane, or on a plant floor.

Couchbase Mobile FAQ
Quick answers on how Couchbase Mobile handles sync, security, and edge AI.
Couchbase Mobile is an embedded NoSQL database for network-resilient iOS, Android, IoT, and web apps with cloud to edge sync and on-device vector search.
Couchbase Mobile is built for apps that must be fast and reliable. It stores data locally on the device so users stay productive without an internet connection, then syncs when connectivity returns.
Couchbase Mobile supports iOS, Android, Windows, .NET, Java, and web via JavaScript, plus embedded edge devices through a C++ and C-API. It also supports cross-platform frameworks like React Native.
Data syncs between devices and the cloud via Capella App Services or self-managed Sync Gateway, with automatic conflict resolution and peer-to-peer sync support.
Yes. Couchbase Lite supports on-device vector search for edge AI and RAG applications, enabling semantic search even without an internet connection when using local models.
Devices discover peers automatically and sync directly over Wi-Fi with TLS. No internet or cloud infrastructure required. Small mesh topologies auto-configure.
