Couchbase Continues Global Expansion in France, China, Japan, India and Israel

New Offices in Paris, Beijing, Tokyo, Bangalore and Tel Aviv open to support growing international demand for scalable, enterprise-grade NoSQL

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – March 28, 2014 – Couchbase, the fastest-growing provider of enterprise-class NoSQL databases and technologies, today announced the opening of five new offices in Paris, Beijing, Tokyo, Bangalore and Tel Aviv.

Enterprise and developer adoption of NoSQL technology is growing internationally. A recent independent report by technology analyst firm TechNavio forecasts the global NoSQL market will grow at a compound annual growth rate of 53 percent over the period of 2013 to 2018. Couchbase’s international expansion will support the roaring demand for high-performing and scalable database solutions for enterprises. The new locations in Beijing, Tokyo and Bangalore mark the company’s first offices in Asia, while Paris and Tel Aviv represent continued development in the EMEA market.

“Paris, Beijing, Tokyo, Bangalore and Tel Aviv are among the top, global business cities, home to thousands of enterprises and high-tech firms where we’ve seen a spike in the demand for NoSQL technology,” said Bob Wiederhold, president and CEO of Couchbase. “As these companies grow, they are looking for technology that can support their expanding business, and they’re turning to Couchbase because we offer the most scalable, enterprise-grade NoSQL database technology on the market – one that is capable of taking companies from grassroots NoSQL adoption to strategic implementation of business-critical applications.”

Couchbase has a growing international customer base, which now includes companies like Flipkart, Digital Generation, Inc., Playtika, Ybrant Digital and Viber. The offices announcement comes shortly after one of Couchbase’s newest Tel Aviv-based customers, Viber, announced its adoption of Couchbase NoSQL to support the scalability demands of its international messaging and VoIP platform, which has hundreds of millions of users.

Couchbase is focused on growing and supporting its developer communities internationally. This year the company is hosting a series of conferences around the world. On April 2, 2014, it will host Couchbase Live [London]. Earlier this year, Couchbase presented Couchbase Live [TLV] in Tel Aviv in February and Couchbase Live [Tokyo] in January.

In 2013, Couchbase experienced dramatic expansion internationally with new partnerships and large-enterprise customers throughout the Middle East, Asia and EMEA markets. The company received a $25 million round of funding in August 2013 to support its international expansion strategy. The opening of new offices and international hiring support Couchbase’s plans. In January 2014, Couchbase announced the hiring of Eric Gold, former Aerospike director, as sales director for Asia. Gold will also support Couchbase’s growth in Israel and throughout the Middle East.

Couchbase currently has a variety of open positions in the new offices, including for software and technical support engineers. A full list of these opportunities can be found at www.couchbase.com/careers#jobviteframe
