Couchbase Mobile 1.4 makes it easy to scale to millions of devices and users

I am really excited to announce that Couchbase Mobile 1.4 is now available for download. With this release you can scale Couchbase Mobile on-demand to support millions of mobile/IoT devices and users.

Join me in a webinar on Thu Mar 9, at 10:00 AM PST to dig deep into results from our performance labs and delve into “Offline-First” architecture that companies like GE, Becton Dickinson, Doddle, and more are using to power their next-generation mobile and IoT applications.

Sync Gateway Accelerator

Couchbase Mobile 1.4 introduces Sync Gateway Accelerator, a new component that enables you to increase system capacity by up to 6x.

In a typical Sync Gateway deployment, each node maintains a channel cache which receives the mutation stream from Couchbase Server, applies the appropriate security filters for access control, and generates the changes feed that is passed to downstream clients.

In Couchbase Mobile 1.4 the mutation feed from Couchbase Server can be sharded across multiple Sync Gateway Accelerator nodes to create a distributed channel cache.

Each Sync Gateway uses the distributed channel cache to efficiently apply security filters for access control and create the changes feed for downstream clients.

Sync Gateway Accelerator can be scaled horizontally just like Couchbase Server and Couchbase Sync Gateway to create a cluster that handles up to 6x write capacity.

We’ve also made bug fixes and minor enhancements – the complete list is available in Sync Gateway release notes.

Couchbase Lite

LINQ support for .NET is here! We have added support for “select”, “where”, “aggregate” and a few other keywords to help you query data natively in .NET.

We’ve also squashed quite a few bugs! For the complete list, please check out the Couchbase Lite release notes.
