Thursday and Friday last week the Couchbase team were at the excellent Big Data Spain in Madrid.

With 1,000 attendees from across Europe, Big Data Spain is one of the larger practical developer-focused big data events this side of the pond. I was planning to be there whatever happened, as I’d heard such good things about previous editions.

On the first evening we launched our new Spanish developer community efforts by sponsoring drinks for the attendees. There was a real buzz about Couchbase, with several requests for us to come back to Madrid to run developer workshops; we’re planning that now!

The next day I gave my talk about the evolution of NoSQL query methods and, in particular, Couchbase’s N1QL was selected. It’s always fun talking about N1QL because people really want to chat about it afterwards.

It’s safe to say we’ll be back next year.
