Extract memcached from the bin directory (windows)

In version 3 is their any way to install only memcached.exe on windows? in version 2 it’s was possible to extract memcached.exe from the bin directory, but now in version 3 memcached.exe use a configuration file and their is no documentation anywhere (or i didn’t found it) about how to setup this configuration file.

While Couchbase Server docs include a binary named memcached.exe, it has in fact evolved significantly from upstream memcached (reworked to handle Couchbase Server clustering, replication, persistence and sharding), and is not expected to be run standalone without ns_sever controlling it.

I’d recommend against trying to use it memcached.exe as a standalone memcached. It’s not tested (and not supported!) running in that manner, assuming you can even get it to work!

If you want to run vanilla memcached then I’d suggest downloading from the upstream site http://memcached.org
