Hi Team,

Please help understand the license for the community server edition of Couchbase server? Can I use it for custom application development and then distribute the same(Couchbase community server edition) with the application package?

Hi @mattoo.sagar,

This is not a great forum for legal advice :slightly_smiling_face: but the Community edition is licensed under Apache 2. If you check out the Apache license FAQ:

It allows you to:

  • freely download and use Apache software, in whole or in part, for personal, company internal, or commercial purposes;
  • use Apache software in packages or distributions that you create.

That being said, I would recommend you consult with a real lawyer :slight_smile:
