Does granting a user access to a channel automatically result in the documents in that channel being added to the users _chages feed? Or do those documents only appear in the users changes feed as they are added or updated?

yes,

  1. user is granted to access a channel that assigned document A into the channel;
  2. document A has been updated.

the changed document A will be added the user’s _change feed.

thanks, so just to be clear: adding a user to a channel will NOT result in all the existing documents in that channel being added to the users _changes feed.

Or to put it another way, existing documents in that channel will only be added to the users _changes feed once they are modified.

It WILL add the documents. However removing the channel assignment will not purge them.
