Talend and Couchbase Announce Partnership to Boost Integration of NoSQL

Open source integration leader and NoSQL frontrunner team up to deliver integration capabilities for Couchbase connector in latest release of Talend’s integration platform

Los Altos, Calif. and Mountain View, Calif.  June 10, 2013  Talend, a global open source software leader, and Couchbase, Inc., a leader in NoSQL database technology and the company behind the Couchbase open source project, today announced a partnership to advance the deployment and integration of NoSQL technology in enterprise environments. As part of the agreement, leading open source big data integration solutions Talend Platform for Big Data and Talend Open Studio for Big Data have been certified to use with Couchbase Server, providing connectors that can be used to connect Couchbase databases to and from all other data stores and systems in the organizations, ensuring smooth synchronization and migration of all data.

Talend’s industry leading big data support includes a graphical environment and components that make big data easy to use and easy to access. With support for Couchbase’s leading NoSQL database, Talend provides high-performance, real-time read/write access to big data. This support also extends the scope of Talend’s integration across the full spectrum of transactional, operational and analytic data sources found in enterprise big data environments. Talend’s enterprise integration platform enables the seamless flow of information between these diverse data sources.

Couchbase is a leader in NoSQL database technology and the company behind the Couchbase open source project. Couchbase Server 2.0, the company’s flagship NoSQL document-oriented database, ensures fast response times and reliability at scale for business-critical web and mobile applications. With its JSON-based data model, Couchbase also gives developers the flexibility to build applications without the rigid constraints of a relational database schema.

“As the adoption of NoSQL databases skyrockets as a viable alternative to traditional databases, Talend is leading the charge to integrate these next-generation technologies with the rest of the information system,” said Fabrice Bonan, co-founder and chief technical officer, Talend. “Couchbase Server is one of the most widely-deployed NoSQL databases, and Talend is happy to be working with Couchbase to provide native support in Talend’s big data solutions, providing out of the box support to facilitate the deployment of NoSQL.”

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Talend, leveraging their powerful big data solutions to better serve our growing customer base,” said Bob Wiederhold, Couchbase CEO. “Working together, we can help our joint customers accelerate their adoption of NoSQL, making it easier to tightly integrate Couchbase into the existing information architecture and take advantage of its flexible data model, easy scalability, consistent high performance and always-on data availability.”

The only data integration and data quality vendor to fully leverage the power of Hadoop and big data platforms, Talend offers the most agile solution for big data today. Built on Talend’s award-winning open source integration technology, Talend Open Studio for Big Data is a powerful and versatile open source solution for big data integration that natively supports Apache Hadoop, and all major NoSQL databases – in addition to the 450+ connectors included natively into the solution. Its unique code generation approach, optimized for these massively parallel environments, helps organizations of all sizes to reap the rewards of the vast amounts of data they have collected over time, at a fraction of the cost of traditional solutions.

“The use of NoSQL databases has grown rapidly over the last five years, driven by interest in alternatives approaches to deliver scalability, performance and data model flexibility,” said Matt Aslett, research director, data management and analytics, 451 Research. “As NoSQL adoption becomes more mainstream, integration such as that being offered by Couchbase and Talend will enable customers to manage the complexity and variety of data formats required for modern applications.”
