NoSQL leader recognized as a standout among technology start-ups
Mountain View, Calif. – September 13, 2011 – Couchbase, the leading NoSQL database company, today announced that it has been named to VentureWire’s FASTech 50 list of the most innovative technology start-ups. The editors of Dow Jones VentureWire and a board of leading venture capitalists selected Couchbase from a pool of hundreds of venture-backed companies.
“Venture capitalists are always searching for start-ups that are developing truly original technology with the potential to transform the marketplace,” said Scott Austin, editor of Dow Jones VentureWire. “The FASTech 50 cuts through the clutter of me-too start-ups to highlight companies developing the most innovative and investment-worthy technologies.”
The VentureWire FASTech 50 is an annual list of technology start-ups, which are selected as deserving special interest from investors. The theme of this year’s list was innovation, and to be eligible, companies must be based in the U.S., be venture-backed and also have launched a product within the last three years that breaks from conventional methods, introduces a novel technology or markedly advances an existing product or service.
“We’re honored to be among the most innovative startups selected by VentureWire,” said Bob Wiederhold, Couchbase CEO. “This distinction reflects Couchbase’s leadership in NoSQL and further validates our unique approach in delivering scalable database technologies that today power many of the world’s leading web applications.”
