Migrating from MongoDB with Ottoman.js

Migrating from MongoDB with Ottoman.js

Couchbase, as a document database built on standard JSON, has the same flexibility as other document databases, but with more capabilities. When approaching Couchbase from Node.js, what kind of framework can be used to simplify getting an app up and running?

That's where Ottoman comes in. Ottoman.js is an ODM built for Couchbase and Node.js. It is designed to remove all of the boilerplate necessary to build Node.js apps with Couchbase. Using Ottoman, you can describe the entities of your app as JavaScript classes, including boilerplate on how you'll access them. Then, Ottoman does the work of generating indexes, allowing you simple Node.js familiar methods for hydrating objects when needed.

Go’ing to the Next Level, Lessons from Go at Couchbase and Introducing the Go SDK

Go’ing to the Next Level, Lessons from Go at Couchbase and Introducing the Go SDK

Several new services in Couchbase Server 4.0 have been written in Go. As one of the original ‘go-nuts’ at Couchbase, Marty Schoch will articulate some of the lessons Couchbase has learned in building these new services – from memory management to native library integration – and how Go figures into new Couchbase services in the pipeline. Couchbase goes further with a Go SDK as well. Currently in Developer Preview, the Go SDK, go-cb, is designed to have a similar interface to all of the other Couchbase SDKs. Matt Ingenthron will 1) review the API provided by the Go SDK, 2) highlight some of the internal tricks and 3) show how it figures into Couchbase applications.

App Development with Documents, Indexes and Queries

App Development with Documents, Indexes and Queries

Couchbase's map reduce engine provides powerful reporting capalities. We'll see live examples of leaderboards, time-series data, and querying object relationships. We'll also talk about performance considerations when using views. We'll also see examples of geographic query capabities, both for map data, as well for other multi-dimensional queries.

Why Every Couchbase Deployment should be Paired with Hadoop

Why Every Couchbase Deployment should be Paired with Hadoop

We ask much more of our data than ever before. Not only does it need to be available in under a millisecond when requested, but we also want to be able to extract every last bit of intelligence from the data to make decisions which make our applications more effective. The combination of Couchbase Server and Cloudera's distribution of Hadoop simplify the development of these simple, fast, scalable applications backed with the ability to create value from big data. In this session Matt Ingenthron of Couchbase and Daniel Templeton of Cloudera will both show and talk about what is possible with this combination.

Introduction to Couchbase Server

Introduction to Couchbase Server

This session introduces Couchbase Server, a document database with JSON support, indexing and querying, and cross datacenter replication. We will give a hands-on tour of Couchbase and its underlying architecture, including online rebalancing while adding nodes to a cluster, indexing and querying and cross data center replication capabilities.

Developing with Couchbase: Getting Started

Developing with Couchbase: Getting Started

Ready to get started with Couchbase? This session will show you what is necessary in the installation and deployment of Couchbase Server. It is hands on, so be prepared to set up Couchbase, learn about deployment, and then get familiar with the SDK for your language of choice. You will come away with information on what common deployments look like and understand how the system behaves in different scenarios such as failures.
