Nuts and Bolts of Docker with Arun Gupta

Nuts and Bolts of Docker with Arun Gupta

The evening will be led by Arun on how to package, deploy, and scale Java applications using Docker and related orchestration frameworks, with a dive into Swarm, continuous delivery.

Docker provides PODA (Package Once Deploy Anywhere) and complements WORA (Write Once Run Anywhere) provided by Java. It also helps you reduce the impedance mismatch between dev, test, and production environment and simplifies Java application deployment.

This workshop/session explains how to package, deploy, and scale Java applications using Docker and related orchestration frameworks.

- Docker 101

- Running first application with Docker

- Package application with Docker

- Sharing application using Docker Hub

- Package application as Docker multi-container applications

- Deploy Java application using Maven/Docker

- Deploy application using Docker Swarm Mode

- Scaling services using Swarm Mode

Applying N1QL and FTS over machine learning

Applying N1QL and FTS over machine learning

Couchbase London meetup where we have two great talks lined up for you, first Applying N1QL and FTS over machine learning  and seondly what's new in Couchbase 4.6

Talk: Applying N1QL and FTS over machine learning

Searching for the right video content to tell a story in the right way is hard. The demand for authentic, relatable video content is at an all time high, with brands trying to harness the power of the crowd to help tell their stories. With the abundance of readily available cloud computer power, machine learning is becoming a much more feasible tool that allows us to perform analysis of video content, including object classification, sentiment analysis, audio transcriptions, and much more. This talk will show how Seenit is combining all these tools with the power of Couchbase’s Full Text Search and N1QL capabilities, providing us with the means to provide a high-quality and scalable video intelligence platform

Speaker: Dave Starling is the Chief Technology Officer of Seenit, a London-based video collaboration platform, and a Couchbase Developer Expert. He has been using Couchbase since the 2.0 era, and he and his team are putting it to use at Seenit to build a video intelligence data mining tool and search engine.

Big Data Forum - Special Days @ OOP 2017

Big Data Forum - Special Days @ OOP 2017

Join David Maier at OOP 2017 for a talk on "Large-scale data processing with Couchbase Server and Apache Spark". Apache Spark is a distributed computation framework and so the idea is to spread the computation tasks to many machines in a computation cluster. In this talk, you will learn how to load data from Couchbase, process it in Spark and store the results back to Couchbase. You will also see that Couchbase is the perfect companion for Spark because it is capable to handle huge amounts of data, provides a high performance, is horizontally scalable and fault tolerant.

By combining software and business, OOP is the meeting point for people who work primarily in the enterprise environment. Technical experts (architects, developers, business analysts, and testers), technical (project) managers and leaders gain an excellent view on the state-of-the-art in modern software engineering. The 2-day Big Data Forum will deal with Big Data technologies, helping to achieve clarity in the debates about these new technologies as well as sharing day-to-day experiences.
