Well, over at <\/span>Samsung Developer Conference<\/span><\/a> in San Francisco this week you can and I am completely stoked about attending along side our Chief Architect of Mobile, <\/span>Wayne Carter<\/span><\/a>, <\/span><\/span>and Sr. Mobile Engineer, <\/span>Zack Gramana<\/span><\/a>. \u00a0It is packed with technical in-depth sessions from ranging industry experts on those hot topics; deciding which ones to attend will be the challenge but I am looking forward to meeting all the great folks at the event. <\/span><\/p>\n

Samsung is making a huge strides in the Wearables and Health sectors and there is no better time to do it than now as Samsung Electronics\u2019 Young Sohn, Chief Strategy Officer of Device Solutions said, \u201c<\/span>there is a tremendous opportunity at the intersection of health and technology.\u201d <\/span>\u00a0Mobile devices are becoming the central platform that will enable devices to extend the experience beyond what we are currently used to. \u00a0Young Sohn also mentioned that the \u201csingle biggest opportunity of our generation\u201d is better understanding our environment and physical well being. \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Young Sohn at Samsung Digital Health Launch Event<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Earlier this year during Samsung Digital Health Launch event, <\/span>Simband<\/span><\/a> health-tracking wristband was teased as the \u201cinvestigational device, not available for sale.\u201d \u00a0The device is part of Samsung\u2019s strategic ambition to open up the ecosystem through Samsung Architecture Multimodal Interactions (S.A.M.I.) which \u201cwill be a data broker that will enable wearable devices like those based on Simband to upload information to the cloud\u201d \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The session on \u201cBuilding SAMI Applications Anywhere\u201d by <\/span>Maneesh Sahu<\/span><\/a> will introduce the APIs to onboard devices, such as the <\/span>Simband<\/span><\/a> and will be valuable for developers interested in building new applications and experiences involving highly detailed data around digital health and IoT. \u00a0<\/span>Tony Tam<\/span><\/a> at the 11\/13 session will demo and showcase why Ram Fish, Vice President of Digital Health for Samsung Electronics said that \u201cSimband is only half of the story.\u201d \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The full mobile story includes Data in the Cloud and it is where I am excited about with <\/span>Couchbase Mobile<\/span><\/a> because it is the cloud solution that provides the ability to have always available apps that work offline and online. \u00a0This is essential to where mobile is trending towards as \u201cthe other half is taking this data and turning it into valuable insights,\u201d like Ram Fish mentioned.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
