{"id":1605,"date":"2020-01-29T16:16:19","date_gmt":"2020-01-30T00:16:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.couchbase.com\/blog\/i-choose-couchbase\/"},"modified":"2020-01-29T16:16:19","modified_gmt":"2020-01-30T00:16:19","slug":"i-choose-couchbase","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.couchbase.com\/blog\/i-choose-couchbase\/","title":{"rendered":"I Choose\u2026 Couchbase!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><span>With Valentine\u2019s Day around the corner, I reflect on what that means to me.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>Far too long ago (don\u2019t remind me how long), back when I was in grade school, I distinctly remember red, pink and white construction paper scraps fluttering to the floor as my classmates and I created masterpieces out of paper bags or cardboard boxes. However, these containers paled against what they eventually held &#8211; Handmade (or mass-produced) Valentines, ultimately bringing confirmation that yes, I DID have a special place in the hearts and minds of my friends. One Valentine in particular, which I recall receiving more than once, was a comical caricature of a steam engine with text, \u201cI Choo Choo Choose You!\u201d Whether it was a welcome surprise or confirmation of deep and meaningful childhood connections, I was delighted to receive it!<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-8115 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.couchbase.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2026\/05\/Screen-Shot-2020-01-09-at-1.45.43-PM-206x300-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"206\" height=\"300\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>Today, as Head of Talent for Couchbase, I think about how we as a company can infuse some of that childhood warmth into our recruitment activities &#8211; How we can remind each other that everyday, we choose each other. Every day, we make a choice to collaborate with smart and creative people we care deeply about, who come to play, and who play to win. We remember that by attacking hard problems, driven by customer outcomes, we\u2019re making tomorrow better than today.\u00a0 So I\u2019ve worked with some creative minds at Couchbase along with some of our recent recruits to roll out an \u201cI Choo Choo Choose You\u201d Valentine of our own, vis a vis our \u201cWhy I Chose Couchbase\u201d social media campaign.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>In this series of posts, which started off with our new Senior Developer Advocate, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/couchbase\/status\/1221869491900047360\"><span>Eric Bishard<\/span><\/a><span>, you\u2019ll see some of our latest recruits and learn why they chose to work for Couchbase.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>Why are we doing this, you might ask?
