With the release of Couchbase Server 5.5, we\u2019ve unified the installation experience as well. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>To illustrate the seamless installation, I\u2019ll take you through the steps to install the Couchbase data platform including Analytics on my laptop.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>First up, you need to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.couchbase.com\/blog\/pt\/downloads\/\"><span>download<\/span><\/a><span> the Couchbase Server 5.5 developer build from our website.\u00a0<\/span><span>The detailed instructions for setting up Couchbase data platform are available <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/developer.couchbase.com\/documentation\/server\/5.5\/install\/install-intro.html\"><span>here<\/span><\/a><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>Once you start the Couchbase Server application and navigate to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/localhost:8091\"><span>https:\/\/localhost:8091<\/span><\/a><span> to connect to the admin console, you will be presented with the screen below.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5503\" src=\"https:\/\/www.couchbase.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2026\/05\/VulcanRCBuild-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1191\" height=\"850\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>I\u2019ll choose the option to setup a new cluster and navigate to the next screen to choose a name and an administrator password.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4814 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.couchbase.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2026\/05\/image3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1164\" height=\"870\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>Upon creating a password, I click on the next button and click the checkbox to \u201caccept terms\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4815 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.couchbase.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2026\/05\/image7.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1120\" height=\"916\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>To install the Analytics service, choose the option to configure the services. You will need to select \u201cAnalytics\u201d service and assign the memory quota for the service and press the save button.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4816 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.couchbase.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2026\/05\/image4.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"762\" height=\"1454\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>You can then navigate to the \u201cDashboard\u201d menu to see all the services running on your laptop.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4817 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.couchbase.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2026\/05\/image5.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1999\" height=\"906\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>Since this is a brand new install, there will be no data in the cluster. You\u2019ll need to add a new bucket and choose the \u201cbeer-sample\u201d bucket shipped with the Couchbase data platform.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4818 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.couchbase.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2026\/05\/image2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1999\" height=\"830\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>You can navigate to the Analytics workbench and verify everything is working by typing a simple query &#8211; \u201cLet there be beer!\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4819 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.couchbase.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2026\/05\/image1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1999\" height=\"1111\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>You are now ready to run through the Couchbase Analytics <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/developer.couchbase.com\/documentation\/server\/5.5\/analytics\/primer-beer.html\"><span>tutorial<\/span><\/a><span> which introduces the key features in this release.
