Membase Server is Now Couchbase Server

With the release of Couchbase Server 1.8.0 on January 23, 2012, Couchbase Server replaces Membase Server as our “flagship” database offering. Users should think of Couchbase Server 1.8.0 as the current release of Membase Server, and can seamlessly upgrade existing Membase Server 1.7 deployments to Couchbase Server 1.8.0.

In fact, Couchbase recommends users move to this latest release to take advantage of substantial improvements in the cluster rebalancing process and fixed a number of issues in the 1.7 release line. No application changes are required for existing Membase Server deployments to upgrade to Couchbase Server 1.8.0.

The Couchbase Server 1.8.0 release is accompanied with updated client libraries for Java, C#/.NET, C/C++, Ruby and PHP and offer a highly polished developer experience. Newly added documentation, tutorials and samples make it easy to develop with Couchbase Server. Find more information on the APIs, usage details and downloads on the SDK Center. Like Membase Server, Couchbase Server also maintains 100% on-the-wire protocol compatibility with memcached for which there are hundreds of client libraries supporting many languages.
