Upgrade RightScale CentOS image due to kernel networking bug

Steve Yen added a comment - 11/Jun/12 5:38 PM - edited As part of fixing the other rightscale task, I took a look at the RightScale Marketplace MultiCloud Images and there does not seem to be any RightImage_CentOS_5.7 or 5.8 available. So, we cannot migrate to those OS's on rightscale, as far as I can see. There is however, RightImage_CentOS_5.6 available. Not sure if that would fix the kernel networking bug.

Steve Yen added a comment - 11/Jun/12 6:29 PM I just tried the RightImage_CentOS_5.6 but it didn't work. The other RightScale scripts don't work with it, and are possibly too old / mismatched versions. From reading recent rightscale docs, the rightscripts seem to be dead-ended, with the new preference to develop chef-based recipes instead of rightscripts.

Farshid Ghods added a comment - 20/Jun/12 1:30 AM i finally made some progress. the current cookbook will install couchbase 1.8.0 on the cluster i need to now work on parametrizing this by letting use pass the bucket name and etc.

Farshid Ghods added a comment - 25/Jun/12 7:37 PM I pushed the latest changes to righscale and chef repository user can provide , admin username,password and bucket ram quota through user inputs. the template is called : Couchbase Chef Basic Server Template WIP I would work on adding EBS support to rightscale template. Steve/Dipti, is adding clustering support to this a blocker for 1.8.1 ? or for the first version we would like to only support single node initialization ?

The current blockers are... - need way for chef-based servers to discover each other for auto-joining - need list of input params that we still want to support for the chef-based approach
