This data set produces same error for me in mac. I will also try on different os.
Also, when I loaded gamesim data views were ok, and using mcsoda data returns view results as well.

Issue reproducible in centos dp4 as well. Fix could be to docloader to sanitize data, or maybe couchdb isn't handling this dataset correctly.
Here is the trace from couchdb.

let's assign this bug back to Filipe once we have the diags from the node.
let's also work on adding this issue to release notes once we know where the bug originates from.

I believe I used a sane set of sample JSON and views. Benjamin had supplied it to me some time back and I believe, but don't know, that the same set of data worked fine in CouchDB. There'd been some issues with it earlier, but Benjamin cleaned it up.
Question: if the view materialization has an issue with a document, how would the user know which document. What I see above from Tommie is not very useful in that regard.

Seems more like issues with the spidermonkey process, exiting with status 0 when it shouldn't (maybe packaging issues).
This changed a lot in master (dp5), as that process no longer exists.
Please test with master/dp5, it's useless to test code we have thrown away.

I don't see here anything specific to the view engine.
Can we just remove it from the component list and add whatever else is related?

let's file a new bug that addresses docloader functionality . this bug is about views not working when bear smaple data is loaded into couchbase and user creates a view to fetch that data

Can someone from QE finally do something about this? If this is doc loader specific, it shouldn't be listed as view engine.
thanks

Deep,
docloader right now does not automatically create views due to some bug but this issue is not blokced by doc loader anymore. you can create any view and emit some documents after the beer data is loaded . if view returns data then we can close this ticket.

With build#1482, beer-sample can be loaded with cbdocloader
/opt/couchbase/bin/tools/cbdocloader -b beer-sample beer-sample.zip
Python 2.6.5
Ubuntu 10.04
4 production views get created by default and can be queried.
I created a couple of dev views and I am able to query that.
Closing this issue. Docloader timeout is being tracked on another issue.

can you try out the mac dp4 release and see if this is easily reproducible and in that case let's pass the diags to Filipe.
i am not sure why this simple use cases was not seen on other platforms
