Very interesting. I didn't like it too. But I could not (and still cannot) say it's bug. It's just new look. If you have some objective evidence that "too dim" is a problem, please, provide it.

added a comment - The new look is difficult to read. I cant quantify it in terms of numbers how many would find it difficult to read, but its a general observation.
Thanks for reporting this, Karan. Which part is hard to read? Monitor, Manage, and Support are intentionally quite lightly colored, as you should only read them a few times ever and ignore them the rest of the time.
If you could attach some screenshots of areas of the UI that you feel cause issues with navigation, legibility, or just general usability, I'd be happy to address them.
Also, knowing what browser and platform you are on will help me narrow down what color, font, and gamma differences we might be seeing.

Karan, what part of that screenshot is illegible or even hard to read? If it's the Monitor, Manage, Support headers, then that is by design and shouldn't be changed. They're not intended to be "heavy" or frequently read. They group headers that should quickly be ignored once the user learns where to click. Giving them equal visual priority as (or greater than) the navigation links leads to unnecessary screen scanning "snags" when you're looking for "Data Buckets" or whatever. The headers are just there, so you know the link groups have distinct meaning, but understanding/researching that meaning shouldn't be something that's constantly done, hence the lower visual priority.
If there are other parts of the UI that are illegible or you feel are hard to read, please open a new ticket for them with a screenshot. Thanks.

UI needs to be not only convenient, but can't hurt eyes too.
Though, I have no idea we can move forward with that toward consensus.
The approach is not without a foundation. Checkout the "Collections" menu here (for one example): http://www.typography.com/
