Is it showing the completion bar completely full. Couchbase is visible in Installed Programs. However, it is is stuck on calculating space requirements. Is there a fix? This is for the latest 2.0 release from the downloads page.

Calling service_start.bat results in:

$ ./service_start.bat

C:\program files\couchbase\server\bin>set NS_BIN=C:\Program Files\Couchbase\Serv
er\bin\

C:\program files\couchbase\server\bin>set NS_ROOT=C:\Program Files\Couchbase\Ser
ver\bin\..

C:\program files\couchbase\server\bin>set NS_ERTS=C:\Program Files\Couchbase\Ser
ver\bin\..\erts-5.8.5\bin

C:\program files\couchbase\server\bin>"C:\Program Files\Couchbase\Server\bin\..\
erts-5.8.5\bin\erlsrv.exe" start CouchbaseServer
C:\Program Files\Couchbase\Server\bin\..\erts-5.8.5\bin\erlsrv.exe: The service
CouchbaseServer is not an erlsrv controlled service.

I have a hunch that deleting any application data files in "doc&settings/user" would fix this error. This is an install on a machine that had 1.8 on it.

This is a known issue and is covered in MB-4593.  The best workaround is to first shut down all other programs, then run the installer from a command shell with logging enabled to see what's blocking the installer.

On installshield's website, there are similar problems reported for installshield.  There are several possible reasons behind it:

  1. The installation of the Microsoft C++ redistributable is blocked by some other running program, sometimes Chrome.
  2. There are some remote network drives that are mapped to local system.  Installshield may not have enough network privileges to access them.
  3. Couchbase server was installed on the machine before and it was not totally uninstalled and/or removed.  Installshield tried to recover from those old images.

All in all, to determine where to go next we'd suggest running setup with debugging mode enabled:

setup.exe /debuglog"C:\temp\setupexe.log".
