Using A Different Version Of Memcached
Hi Perry,
I have tested a different version of Memcached with our architecture and it performs well. I was wondering whether it is possible to easily swap out the version of Memcached that comes with Membase and plug in the version I have. Do you see any issues with this. Is it as simple as simply replacing the Memcached directory that Membase uses with the one for my plug-in version?
Thanks.

Hi Perry,
Thanks for your response. We used the open source Memcached, but did some optimization for our hardware.
I would really appreciate it if you could check with your engineers to find out what would be involved in swapping out our Memcached for the one that comes with Membase?
Thank you for all your help.

Sounds good Jon. Are you looking to swap out the Membase bucket type or memcached bucket type?
Perhaps it makes sense to have a quick phone call to discuss exactly what you're doing and what the business opportunity looks like? Feel free to sidemail me at perry -at- couchbase -dot- com.

I'm curious which version you are using and what the differences are between it and the open-source?
As far as using it with our product, I don't think it's as easy as you may think. If you want to just use your memcached as a replacement for our memcached bucket type, it may be relatively straightforward (I would need to check with our engineers) but you definitely wouldn't be able to use it in place of the Membase bucket type.
Let me know if that helps.
