US to China replication?
My company has one data center in China and one in the US. There is a 300 ms latency between data centers on a 10 MB dedicated MPLS line.
We primarily use Memcached as a cache layer on top of a SQL backend using SQL replication (sparingly) when necessary. However, we have some state which is maintained only in memory which we would like to replicate across data centers. The state is very time sensitive (less then 2 second delay preferably). Repcached does not seem to be an active project so we are looking for alternative solutions.
Would you recommend using Couchbase's replication for this? Or is Couchbase replication more suited to scenarios where bandwidth is not an issue and latency is low and eventual consistency is acceptable in which case it would be faster to manually write (asynchronously) to Couchbase across both data centers?
Thanks for your help,

Great news, we'll give it a try.
Its hard to search out educated individuals on this matter, however you sound like you understand what youre talking about! Thanks

Hi there.
Couchbase replication would certainly be suitable here, it's very well designed to work across such links. However, you would probably get the same performance by asynchronously writing the data yourself.
