We'd like to upgrade our cluster from 32bit redhat nodes to 64bit redhat nodes. These are on AWS.

We first tried to add a 64bit node to the cluster, but it failed over out of the cluster as soon as we tried to rebalance. We then built a new 64bit cluster and used snapshots from the 32 bit cluster to write over the data files, but the membase process didn't like that (we've done this successfully with 32bit to 32bit clusters).

Has anyone done this using any other approaches? The only thing we haven't tried is to use cbbackup, but the activity on the 32bit cluster may prohibit the success of that.

Hello,

First time I hear about this issue; but I do not know if somebody has tried that before.

Do you have any error in logs or UI?

Regards
Tug

As this is the 2.0 Forum, if you have the 2.0 Beta, XDCR to the 64bit cluster I believe should work. What exact 2.0 version are you using?

I was able to accomplish this using cbbackup/cbrestore. Using XDCR sounds like a good solution as well.
