start up membase
Hi all,
I have just installed membase. I went through the console setup and all is well. Afterward, I restarted my machine. I can no longer access the console. I assume I need to start up the membase manually so I issued
C:\Program Files\Membase\Server\bin>service_start
C:\Program Files\Membase\Server\bin>set NS_BIN=C:\Program Files\Membase\Server\b
in\
C:\Program Files\Membase\Server\bin>set NS_ROOT=C:\Program Files\Membase\Server\
bin\..
C:\Program Files\Membase\Server\bin>set NS_ERTS=C:\Program Files\Membase\Server\
bin\erlang\erts-5.8.3\bin
C:\Program Files\Membase\Server\bin>"C:\Program Files\Membase\Server\bin\erlang\
erts-5.8.3\bin\erlsrv.exe" start MembaseServer
C:\Program Files\Membase\Server\bin\erlang\erts-5.8.3\bin\erlsrv.exe: Failed to
start service MembaseServer.
Error: Access is denied.
But I got "Access denied".
How do I start up the server up again and can have access to both the server and the console?
Thanks, Grace
Hi Perry,
>>>> "Access Denied" points to a possible permissions issue, what user are you trying to start the service as?
It's the same windows user that installs the membase software if this is what you are asking. I am using Windows 7 Enterprise.

I tried this also but I got access denied for all the commands (service_unregister, service_stop, etc)
Thanks, Grace
But to install the software, you would have needed administrative permissions. Can you try running those commands "as administrator"? I'm trying to determine whether 'access denied' is an accurate representation of the problem or whether it is masking the underlying issue...
Hi Perry,
I ran the cmd prompt "as Administrator". It works now even though I am not sure why this is a necessary step.
Thanks, Grace
