Run couchbase on single EC2 machines
Do I need to run coucbase on an Amazon Cluster or I can use single EC2 machines - will I have latency problems?
I need to know that because it adds to the cost if I need to dpeloy an Amazon cluster.
It's not what I've meant. When you deploy a single EC2 instance and add another one, it's not a cluster, Amazon have a specific cluster where the machines are close to each other and latency is low, but that costs much more. So my question is whether its crucial to use Coucbase on Amazon cluster? - Can I just deploy Couchbase on Single EC2 machines that aren't on Amazon HPC Cluster (see here what I mean, Amazon have ea specific cluster configuration)
I wasn't even aware of that feature. We don't ask any of our users or customers to use Amazon Cluster when deploying Couchbase and we test our software with normal amazon EC2 instances. With that said it would likely improve replication performance if you need use amazon cluster, but again it is not necessary.
Thanks mike, that was very important to me, because a cluster adds to the cost around $1000/mo at least.
You only need one instance in order to run Couchbase. I would recommend having two instances when going into production though so that your cluster will still run with a single node failure.
