RightScale Memcached Clustering Limit?
I am using the Rightscale template to install Northscale Memcached. I have two nodes clustered fine, but when I go to add a third node it will not connect to the cluster. All the servers are in the same security group. Any idea? Is there a limit to the number of nodes in a cluster?
The first two clusters are not an issue its when I log into the 3 node to join th 1st cluster and also the 4th node to join the 1st cluster. The web console says node connected successfuly but the web console does not work. If if remove one node and go to three nodes then the web console works. So at this point I have 4 nodes in the mix and I am not sure how things are running, if there are errors etc.
When I kill a node and restart it, there is no way to log into that servers web console. It's not clear what the exact stop and start command are except for the service northscale stop|start|restart command. These do not seem to be working correctly.
Hello,
Can you please use the membase Command Line Tool to get cluster stats:
/opt/membase/bin/cli/membase server-list --cluster=HOST[:PORT]
How many nodes do you see after adding the fourth node?
Also use the following to get more information and send to us:/opt/membase/bin/ns_server/collect_info for more such tools refer to

Thanks

Hi, I am running memcached so these directoryies do not exist. The install was done via a RightScale NorthScale Memcached Template.
The NorthScale Memcached Template is quite old and has been deprecated. Can you please upgrade to the latest server template (Membase) and try again?
Thanks

Hi there, thanks for your inquiry.
There is no limitation within the software. Can you provide a link to the sever template that you are using?
Also, how are you trying to join the new node? (From the existing cluster, from that new node, via the RightScale Join Cluster script?) And what error are you seeing?
Can you telnet from the new instance to one of the existing ones on port 4369?
Thanks
Perry
