I am running couchbase 1.8.0 on three nodes in a cluster. Since I want to migrate these servers and update some packages, which requires the servers to be off, I had considered the following scenario:

- Remove server, rebalance
- Physically migrate and update the server
- Add server back to cluster
- Rebalance

However, after clicking remove and rebalance, the two remaining servers show they are at 0% complete. I cannot stop the rebalance (the button does not do anything) nor can I add any other server, because that button has disappeared.

The nodes are not very busy (averaging below 4% cpu and around 15% memory for both beam.smp and memcached), so I do not think this is due to any form of 'starvation'. The firewall is also set to allow all traffic within our own subnet, so all traffic should get through easily.

The couchbase-cli command shows both servers are healthy and active when i request the server-list.

Hi, mrtijn,
Have you tried restarting the server.and give it time to warmup.

Then performing the balancing?

Note: try re balancing from command line
