Quick question on installation defaults
Tue, 12/14/2010 - 10:04
Hi - I installed membase on two different servers in exactly the same manner - both using the default bucket as a memcached bucket.
After initial installation, I did a simple telnet localhost 11211 on both servers and then attempted a stats. On one of them, the expected dump was generated. On the second, I received what appears to be a moxie exception code - SERVER_ERROR unauthorized, null bucket
Does anyone know why two installations would generate different results like this? We are begining evaluation of Membase and would like to start off by simply replacing our memcached instances with membase in memcached mode.
Thanks.
Happy to help here!
It's odd that there would be a difference between the two installations, but I suspect there's some underlying difference between the two servers.
Are you able to look at the Logs link in the UI on the server that is not working and see if there are any error messages there? Alternaltively, you can run /opt/membase/bin/browse_logs to get the full debug-log output.
I'm suspecting that there is a problem starting up the Memcached process which is usually linked to security settings on the server (rlimit or core_limit). Take a look at this post and let me know if those errors show up and/or if this helps resolve your issue (http://wiki.membase.org/display/membase/Common+Errors)
Thanks!
