Hey,
I'm 100% sure this is written somewhere, I just couldn't seem to find it myself.

We are currently hosted on a specific host, and we want to move to a new host - how can we migrate everything we have stored in Membase over to a new server with minimal downtime/problems?

Thanks,
Ron

Ron, the easiest thing to do here would be to rebalance in the new host, and rebalance out the old one.

If that's not possible, you can shut down the one host, copy the DB files over to the new one and restart (this will only work with 1.7.1+ so make sure you're upgraded).

Let me know if you need more information

Perry

Hey Perry,
Since these servers are hosted on different hosts, we can't rebalance them - which files exactly should I copy over to the new server?

Oh I see. You'll want to just go through backup/restore: http://www.couchbase.org/wiki/display/membase/Backup+and+Restore+with+Me...

Hello Perry,
We're migrating in a few days and I attempted a test backup before, and I followed the instructions and I have some problems:
1. The bucket dir isnt under membase/data it's under membase\var\lib\membase\data - is that OK?
2. After I followed the instructions in the powershell, I received the following message over and over again:
"Error: unable to open database "C:\Program Files\Membase\Server\var\lib\membase\data\default-data": unable to open database file
Try backup default-data again"

Please reply to me as soon as you can.
Thanks,
Ron
