I can see in the documents that uses "smart client"
I don't really understand what kind of the client this is.
This generally means a client that is aware of the cluster topology and will adjust to changes in the cluster topology.
This is described more completely in the manual:
Other clients are more traditional memcached clients that rely on moxi or go through a moxi running on the server side to get the data item to the right place.
Hmm.. So if I download client from couchbase.com,and use it to connect to 11210 port. I am using smart client?
If I connect to 11211 port, I am using server side proxy?
seems like the dependency of smart clinet is decided by which SDK I use
are those SDK clients smart client?
Both the Couchbase Java Client and libcouchbase are cluster aware. The Couchbase Java Client depends on spymemcached and is API compatible.
Ah I see Thank you for quick reply!
