Hello,
I would like to understand the exact difference between Enterprise and Community version. Who can help me with this. Do I have to contact sales?
Thanks,

7. How is the software provided as part of an Enterprise Subscription different than the Community Edition? Is it identical to the open source version of Membase Server? The differences between the two editions are kept to a minimum where possible but there are important differences. Couchbase, Inc. will take releases of open source from time-to-time, run extensive QA testing on these releases, make bug fixes as appropriate, and make an Enterprise Edition release. Special hot fixes needed by paying customers will also be made to the Enterprise Edition. These changes will eventually be committed back to the open-source code base. Likewise, any additions to the open-source project will not necessarily make it into the Enterprise Edition until Couchbase, Inc. has been able to certify and QA them.
Releases of the Enterprise Edition also have a longer support tail for older versions while the open source version focuses on improving the latest version.
The Community Edition of Membase Server is provided by Couchbase, Inc. as service to the community. From time to time Couchbase, Inc. will take stable versions of open source and package it for download as the Community Edition.
My apologies for the delay in response. Here are my thoughts on the diferences.
There are three main differences:
1. Support - You will get quick answers to you questions from a support team dedicated to enterprise customers.
2. Testing - We have a QE team that spends a lot of time finding bugs and making sure our releases are ready for production use.
3. Access to Hot Fixes - Every one and a while we will miss a bug in a release. If you are an enterprise customer we will supply patches that have been throughly tested to solve thee issues.
Our community release mainly meant for:
1. Projects that businesses don't rely on for success (You would probably be better off with something that is heavily tested)
2. Users who are interested in learning more about NoSQL technology.
We typically find that many of our paying customers start projects with our community version and then purchase enterprise support before going into production.
