How to uninstall couchbase on mac Lion and reinstall?
I uninstalled couchbase so i could do a fresh install, but i can't seem to get all the files removed. Since when i try and empty my trash it says that the couchbase server is still in use. I restarted my computer and was able to empty my trash and do a fresh install but the new install will not connect to the server and my old buckets are showing up in the admin console.
I also followed the docs and i don't have anything in this folder "~/Library/Application Support folder for the user that ran Couchbase Server.". How can i get everything cleared and reinstalled?
Thanks in advance.
I can delete the files which are in the couchbase server folder, but i have no other fils to delete. I guess that it is obvious that i missing some files to delete but i don't know where because i have checked the library folder as well. I downloaded couchbase to my applications folder.
It should just be ~/Library/Application Support/Couchbase and possibly ~/Library/Application Support/Membase if you had a very old install before.
Which files/filenames are in the trash that can't be deleted?
I have no couchbase files in this directory ' ~/Library/Application Support/Couchbase and possibly ~/Library/Application Support/Membase i'. When i try and clear my trash i get this alert "The operation can’t be completed because the item “Couchbase Server” is in use."
So i rebooted and then was able to clear my trash folder, but when i install a fresh couchbase, my old buckets are in the admin console and i cant connect to the server. So i must be missing a file to delete somewhere.
Can you look for processes with the following names?
memcached
beam.smp
moxi
If you find one of those either stop the process or see what files it's keeping open.
It was a file called epmd, i stopped it and was able to clear my trash folder. I am now reinstalling couchbase.
I reinstalled couchbase and i get all my old buckets and this error "Difficulties communicating with the cluster; displaying cached information!"
Why is my previous couchbase install data persisting and my admin access?
SOLVED! This is what happens when a linux user uses a mac. In Lion and Snow leopard , the ~/Library/Application Support/Couchbase folder is hidden. Therefore for other mac users:
1. move couchbase folder to trash
2. Go to 'Activity Monitor' and and stop the 'empd' process
3. Use 'Go To Folder' and input '~/Library' . This will show contents of hidden folder, move couchbase folder to trash.
4. Empty trash and you can download a fresh couchbase install.
Have you done anything different to make the startup more automatic? Generally speaking, it shouldn't automatically start at login or after reboot unless you do something special.
If you log in as another (administrative) user, can you delete the files?
