Hosted 2.0 (AWS / other?)
Thu, 06/21/2012 - 08:25
Hello,
I am looking for the most supported/documented/easiest way to deploy 2.0 for production use.
I have no financing yet, so I would like to use something that would allow me to start free or at negligible cost, with the option to pay for additional servers if the project grows. Perhaps EC2 Micro would be enough? The smallest Linode cluster (or similar) would be affordable also at $20 per month.
I have seen that CouchBase provide EC2 AMIs* but only for 1.8, not 2.0.
Are there similar resources/guides anywhere for 2.0?
Thank you,
Darren

Couchbase 2.0 will be release during the third quarter of 2012. In the meantime you can use one of our developer preview for doing development. It sounds like we don't have ami's for our developer previews, but Couchbase is very easy to install. Just spin up an ec2 instance and one of our rpm or deb files from http://www.couchbase.com/download.
You are free to use as many instances of Couchbase server community edition or up to 2 instances of Couchbase enterprise edition.
Also, I would recommend using at least a medium sized ec2 instance in order to be able to take advantage of the Couchbase memory caching layer. In general your working set should fit into memory at all times for the best performance.
