We're pleased to announce the release of Couchbase Server 1.8.1 Enterprise Edition. Downloads are posted and available in the usual location.

We have some additional information on what's new in the blog.

Happy downloading,

Matt

A community release would be great - or at least a date when it will be available.

There's no specific timeframe for a community release, but we hope to be able to get out soon. Of course, keep in mind, EE is free for use in many cases as well.

Would you expect any difference in stability between these RPMs and the ones available on the northscale build server?

http://builds.hq.northscale.net/latestbuilds/

The reason I ask is we're running "couchbase-server-community_x86_64_1.8.1-938-rel.rpm" on EL5.4 (2.6.21.7-2.fc8xen) for a couple of weeks and we're having trouble getting rebalancing to complete despite low disk i/o. We're seeing outrageous traffic between servers (120M/s) despite relatively low rps (1-2k). Tap queues remain high and only 4G of data written to disk over several days. Going to open up a separate thread on that topic.

Thanks!

Erik Osterman

I wouldn't recommend running random builds. The ones that are released at couchbase.com/download have been through quite a bit of testing where any individual build can have known issues. Sometimes, there are issues which may remain for a bit.
