I arrived at Couchbase forums while searching for memcache build for Windows. I would like to know whether Couchbase is a caching server?

Couchbase 2.0 and 1.8 are a drop-in replacement for memcached . You can use port 11211 with your memcache / memcached . Its different then just Memcached as it stores data to disk in a Master to Master configuration using (Couchdb).
The short answer is Couchbase could be used as a caching server, but it is also a full Document Database with persistence.
