Hey guys,

i install yesterday on a EC2 the newest build (1554).
Ubuntu 12 - LTS

There are couple of big bugs!

1. update a view on the console is somtimes broken, it means when i change my js and click on save, the update are not there!
2. views rendering doesn't work
3. 100% CPU usage by 150+ keys and 10 views
4. tools are still missing / not working (backup, loadtest)
5. views editor with a preview documentation is horrible! imagine only if have data with 2000 lines of json o.O

I know it developer preview BUT the 1554 build is not really usable!

Cheers!

Just to be a lil bit more precise:

It is beam.smp which causes about 60-80% of the CPU utilization, 2nd is memcached and moxi which each cause 10-20%. In total the couchbase host has always 100% CPU utilization.

In a new setup (doesn't matter if Ubuntu or CentOS) this strange behavior occurs somehow instantly when you start changing/adding buckets. Even if there is no client accessing, the CPU utilization goes up.

If you just stay with the initial default bucket (which means NO other buckets are created) the CPU utilization goes down to almost 0 after some minutes... but we did not test to really work on this, because we need more than just one bucket. So I cant say how the latest build may behave it is used only with one bucket.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Alexander

Updare/Edit: More than one hour has passed... the Couchbase server is not used at all and the CPU utilization on the server is still at 100%...

I'm getting this to the QE Team, can you help with some config info? What size instance, bucket quota, memory etc?

Hi Alexander,

can you please collect some information from the clsuter by either obtaining diagnostics from the Log page and uploading it to a ticket http://www.couchbase.com/issues/secure/Dashboard.jspa or sending the link to use.

few more Q :

>>>1. update a view on the console is somtimes broken, it means when i change my js and click on save, the update are not there!
this is fixed and will be in the next recent build release.
2. views rendering doesn't work
3. 100% CPU usage by 150+ keys and 10 views
>>> how many buckets and how many indexes did you define on the cluster. from your use cases it seems like there have been multiple buckets and 10 or more design docs per bucket so the box was initially creating indexes and replicating the information across the cluster for some time. diagnostics should help us decode this issue.
4. tools are still missing / not working (backup, loadtest)
>>> which load test are you referring to ? cbworkloadgen ?
tools like backup and restore are also getting ready and next recent build will have more changes related to this area.
5. views editor with a preview documentation is horrible! imagine only if have data with 2000 lines of json o.O
>>> yes. for viewing long documents i believe the UI nos shows the entire document but as you mentioned it might be an issue when the document has thousands of lines.

Build 1672 is now available on the download page as well. http://www.couchbase.com/download?next=true

Can you give it a try?

Backup and restore docs are also updated and can be found here:
