 I installed sqlite3 using apt-get - if I type "sqlite3" I get the console.

When I run:

sudo /opt/membase/1.6.5/bin/ep_engine/management/mbbackup /ebs/membase/ /mnt/backups/20110228/

ERROR: Cannot find sqlite3 command.

We actually include our own sqlite binary with the distribution.  There's a small bug in the backup script that references a relative path to sqlite.  If you run the script from within the /opt/membase/1.6.5/bin/ep_engine/management directory,  it should work.
