Working around PHP client limitations

As I understand it, to access other buckets requires SASL, which is not supported by the PHP memcache client. It also seems impossible to run more than one Membase MCDS on a single instance.

Is there any other way I can access the other buckets from PHP that I'm missing?

So far I like what I've seen! Thanks.

You are correct with the current limitations, unfortunately it is not possible to access our buckets through PHP. However, with the coming release of 1.6 we will be adding support for accessing buckets by port (as well as by SASL).

Your best option for a workaround today is to setup separate memcached clusters. I know that's not a very good solution. Will it hold you until we release 1.6 (towards the end of this month)?

Thanks

Perry

Thanks, Perry. Any ballpark estimate on when 1.6 will be ready?

The plan is to GA it towards the end of this month. We will have a new beta release very shortly which will include the initial support for memcached buckets. We would much appreciate you taking a look at that and providing any feedback. I'll let you know when it's ready.

Sounds good. I look forward to trying it out (and storing my sessions in Membase as well!).

Datura, we just released beta 4 today which introduces the capability to have memcached buckets within the cluster. Buckets are accessible either via SASL or port-based.

Please let me know how this works for you.

Thanks, take care.
