Pricing Clarification
On your pricing page, it states that "Pricing is per server, up to 2 processors". This appears to apply to all versions, even the free "Basic" version. Your license page (upon registering) is also not formatted in the browser and is very dense and hard to read. Can you clarify whether there are any limitations on the deployment of the free version or is it it only limited by support?
For instance, the footnote states that a quad-core processor is considered to be a single processor. What happens if I run this software on a server with more than 2 processors? Is it a software limitation? A support limitation? A price increase in licensing? Does this apply to all versions or only the free version?
Thank you for any clarification.
Brian
Rod,
Thanks for the update. As long as there are no surprises that's all I really need to know. I'll hold off for now on the phone call since we're not really in a place right now where we can seriously discuss our plans/setup/licensing, but when we get there I will keep your info handy. Please let me know anything else you find out out, via here or email and thanks again.
Brian
Hi Brian, I wanted to let you know more specifically, yes, if you run on additional processors there is a license/cost increase. Please keep me posted.
Are you planning to publish your prices for a basic deployment on more than two processors?
John -- basic memcached from northscale is free ... regardless of how many CPUs you deploy it on. I think our pricing page is a little confusing ... Thanks for pointing it out.
Thanks for clarifying that!
Hi Brian,
I am looking into the details on this for you and will get back to you as soon as possible. There is no software limitation however and the current licensing limits apply specifically to product support. Maybe it would be best to catch up by phone to discuss this further together.
Thanks.
Rod
