N1QL - Getting Started

I've got Couchbase 2.5.1 running on Mac OSX.

Using latest version of Couchnode, I am able to get and set objects no problem. However, I am not able to use N1QL query. every request comes back with "Not Found".

For instance, I have a simple "default" bucket with an object as {...

How do i do a join that doesn't use document key?

How would I run a query like this:

"SELECT asset.fqdn, port.name FROM bucket asset JOIN bucket port ON port.assetId = asset.id" (or asset.id could be key).

Asset document is asset:1 and has asset.id (asset:1), and some other details.

Port document has port.assetId (asset:1...

With N1QL queries being executed on the Couchbase server, what is the cost (on performance) of running such queries?

Appreciate if the cost can be defined for example with 100GB of data in one bucket if we run a query what the performance cost is??

Sorting asc vs. desc performance in views and N1QL

Hello,

We know that the views sort data in ascending order. Since N1QL uses views behind the scenes, we assume that ORDER BY in asc is performant. How does N1QL handle ORDER BY desc? Is there a difference in performance?

For example in SQL relational database when an index is...

How would a N1QL join statement behave in a sharded environment?

How would it be executed so that it's performant?

For N1QL should we create an index for each search and filter predicate for n1ql to be performant?

How does this work with a sharded couchbase? which will be slow performing queries which ones will be fast

Should I be using multiple buckets?

I watched the Nickel webinar today. All examples, tutorials, and documentation are using multiple buckets, are multiple buckets the preferred way?

I had read other Couchbase documentation that advocated using as few possible buckets & views.

Please clarify.

Is Nickel eventually-consistent or realtime?

Is Nickel eventually-consistent or realtime? How is it positioned: as a analogous to views were we expect a certain performance or as a common/primary feature such as reading and writing documents?

I don't know if I understand collated views right (and N1QL would be am option?)

Hi everybody..I'm not pretty sure if I understand well collated views, I only could found a couple of articles about it...I was trying this in the last night...my idea: create documents which are related to messages, every essage has an author and could have many destinataries (which are saved...
